BHOPAL: In a shocking incident, a 18-year-old girl swallowed a Chinese cell phone in Bhind district after a quarrel with her brother on Friday. The girl was rushed to Jayarogya hospital (JAH) in Gwalior, where she underwent emergency surgery to get the phone safely removed from her stomach.
âÂÂThe dispute between siblings led to a turn of events. As tempers flared during their argument, she took an impulsive step by swallowing the cell phone, causing immediate concern among her family,â said a doctor.
With the girl experiencing severe abdominal pain and persistent vomiting, her family wasted no time in seeking medical attention. She was taken to JAH, a teaching hospital associated withÃÂ Gwalior Medical College. Upon her arrival at JAH, a team of skilled doctors led byÃÂ Dr Prashant Srivastava, head of department, Dr Prashant Pipariya, unit In-charge, associate professor DrÃÂ Naveen KushwahaÃÂ conducted the surgery.
After conducting a thorough examination, including ultrasound, X-ray, and CT scan, the medical team determined that the phone could not be safely retrieved through less invasive methods such as endoscopy or laparoscopy, and surgical intervention was necessary.
The surgical team worked tirelessly for nearly two hours to safely remove the phone from the girlâÂÂs stomach.
